Calcium Scoring

Coronary calcification scoring is a non-invasive, FDA-approved CT scan of the heart performed on our 64-slice CT. The scan is cardiac-gated to eliminate artifact from heart motion.
The scan detects and quantifies calcified atherosclerotic plaque in the coronary arteries. A score is computed based on the amount of calcification detected. The score is an accurate predictor of the degree of narrowing of the coronary arteries and the likelihood of a heart attack.

What can you expect during your exam?
With this non-invasive, painless exam, you won’t even be asked to undress.  Our CT Technologist will ask you to lie on a comfortable table and will attach electrocardiogram (ECG) leads to your chest.  You will be in constant visual and voice contact with the technologist from the open CT scanner during your exam.  You will not fill the scan at all, just relax and lie as still as possible.
