As a Nurse practitioner at Cardiac Study Center, Marlene Bridgforth sees patients on a regular basis and plays a significant role in assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and patient education. Her desire to make a greater contribution to patient care management led Marlene to obtain a graduate degree from the University of Washington, the top-rated nursing school in the United States.

noimage Noimage Originally from the Midwest, Marlene and her husband raised their family in the Pacific Northwest. Her sons both attended the University of Washington. When away from work, Marlene enjoys arts and crafts, needlepoint, and painting. She is an avid reader.
   
 

CLINICAL EXPERIENCE:
Marlene has held a variety of positions in her twenty-five+ years of nursing career. While serving in the United States Navy, she learned the basics of critical care nursing. In the civilian sector, she was a critical care charge nurse. She also worked as a nursing supervisor and as a nurse educator. This background provides her with a strong foundation for her current position as an Advanced Practical Nurse.

     
 
COMMUNITY OUTREACH:
Cardiac Study Center sponsors several community outreach projects throughout the year; Marlene actively supports these projects providing leadership, ideas, time, and money. Some of the Clinic outreach projects include the American Heart Association Walk for a Cure; the American Heart Association Heart Ball, the American Cancer Society, and McKinley Elementary School on the eastside of Tacoma.
